Annual Session of Aghunaqa GB’s Association held

Dimapur, February 22 (MExN): Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) H. Khekiho Zhimomi, said village chiefs (GBs) have great responsibility to play in building strong village community be it in terms of development of the village and its people or social harmony. He was addressing the inaugural session of the 36th Annual Session of Aghunaqa Area GB’s Association at Yetoho village this morning as chief guest.
Encouraging the GBs to lead an exemplary life for the villagers to follow, Khekiho said it is a moral responsibility of a GB to be truthful and committed, which are two important aspects of life that helps in the prosperity of a society.
Expressing concern for the people of Aghunaqa area, chief guest said he has a purpose of visiting the area and that is to wake up the people who are in deep slumber to enjoy the privileges of the ruling government. He called upon the leaders of the area not to cut down the fruit bearing tree but to preserve it and to enjoy the fruit of it.
Having faced defeat in the last state assembly election, Khekiho said that with the blessing of the NPF party under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio and Dr. Shurhozelie, he was given greater responsibility to serve Naga people as a member of parliament. And shouldering the responsibility, MP said that he would in strong conviction continue to work for the benefit of the people and for which he urged the public to support him.
Earlier during the day, he inaugurated Khagho (traditional village gates) at Mughavi village and Yetoho village. Inaugurating the gates, he said village gate is the identity of the village.
Luhevi Achumi, president, Western Sumi Hoho and Apeto Assumi, president, Western Sumi Kukami Hoho also exhorted the gathering of the GBs.
