Govt Primary School connects Mezo-Basa

The Village Education Committee (VEC) of Mezo-Basa has taken the initiative of starting the Government Primary School (GPS) for the academic session from today.
Addressing the inaugural function, Mezo-Basa VEC chairman, Khrielievi Chüsi said that GPS Mezo-Basa was granted as part of the Directorate of School Education upgradation under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) on March 21, 2011. However, he said the foundation stone for the construction of the GPS Mezo Basa has not been laid and if the village continues to wait for the Department to construct the school and start the academic session, it would be too late. In this, he said that the villagers took the initiative to construct the school with community participation and decided to start the classes for the academic session from today.
The VEC have constructed four-room CGI-sheet for Class A to 3 and also an office for the administrative purposes. A total of 19 students have enrolled in different classes while the VEC has appointed four private teachers on fixed pay, which would be borne by through community contribution. Further, VEC chairman urged the Government to take initiative in early construction of a proper school building for the village and also provide necessary infrastructure as well as free text books. Chairman of Mezo-Basa Village Council, Rovigwelhou Chüsi expressed the hope that the school education department would take necessary steps in meeting the school with proper infrastructure at the appropriate time.
