Chessore upgraded as SDO (C) hq

Chessore, February 25 (DIPR): Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio stated that he was pleased for being able to make the people of Chessore area happy through fulfillment of their aspirations of upgrading Chessore as SDO (C) headquarter. Addressing the huge gathering of public at Chessore Tuensang district on February 24 who had come from surrounding villages, the Chief Minister expressed these feelings further stating that it was a “Red Letter Day” for the people of the area.
The Chief Minister further said that many developments have been initiated in the backward areas and that more needs to be done towards which his government is striving. He called on the people to cooperate with government officials for effective and meaningful developmental activities. Stating that many things have been achieved in Shamator-Chessore area in recent years, Rio expressed that this was possible because of the cooperation and coordination of the people and their representative with the government and called on them to continue to work hand in hand with the government. The Chief Minister also called on the youth of the region to come up to avail the facilities extended by the DAN government saying that youths are being given maximum opportunities by his government to take up various challenges in these modern times of competition and innovations. He said that the upcoming Youth Expo and Tribal Fests in all districts are aimed to explore and encourage the youths in their innovative endeavour.
The Chief Minister further stated that the demands of the area as mentioned in the memorandum presented to him would be addressed to the extent possible and announced that he would immediately provided Rs. 10 lakhs for extension of the playground at Chessore. Regarding construction of office for the SDO (C) he said that funds would be earmarked in the coming State budget and requested the people to provide the site. He also said that necessary verification of requirements would be conducted by officials and funds would be provided for construction of Town Hall, roads etc in the area.
Parliamentary Secretary for CAWD, T. Torechu and Parliamentary Secretary for IPR, Economics & Statistics, R. Tohanba also addressed the function and expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his sympathetic attitude towards their people and area which have been long neglected.
Welcome address was given by President GBs Union Chessore area and short speeches were also given by Head GB of Chessore village, Nokrenba, President YTC and Ex-Minister Zungkum. The programme was chaired by ADC Shamator, T. Yanpvuthung Kikon and vote of thanks was proposed by Head GB Mangko Joseph.
Earlier a monolith marking the upgradation was unveiled by the Chief Minister who was accompanied by his lady wife, Minister for Agriculture, Chumben Murry his lady wife and Additional Chief Secretary & Commissioner Nagaland, Banuo Z. Jamir.
