GPS Shaki commemorates Golden Jubilee

Wokha, February 25 (DIPR): Commemorating the attainment of Golden Jubilee of Government Primary School Shaki in Wokha district, a grand function was organized to mark the day with Secretary Nagaland Legislative Assembly, A.E. Lotha as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering the chief guest stressed on the importance of quality education in the present competitive world stating that education is the life of the students whereby educational institutions serves as the link for providing education. He also exhorted the student community to be disciplined, and duty bound with determination to achieve success in their life. Lotha further emphasized on the importance of understanding between the students and teachers which he felt was of paramount importance for the success of any educational institution. “The society has high hope and expectation from you and with hard labour and clarity of mind you should strive to deliver a bright and prosperous future for the State of Nagaland” he added. The Secretary also reminded the teachers that education ought to be imparted with a view to the type of society that one wishes to build, and expressed confidence that the teachers of GPS Shaki has done a marvelous job towards achieving this goal. He further expressed optimism that the institution would be able to race ahead on many parameters.
Earlier, the chief guest unveiled the jubilee monolith while consecration was offered by Pastor Phiro Baptist Church Thungjanshio Odyuo. A minute silence was also observed in memory of the departed teachers and students. Retired DIS Wokha, M. Wopemo Tsopoe also exhorted the gathering while Teacher-in-charge T. Khyobemo Tsopoe delivered the welcome address. Special numbers were also presented by the school students and Shaki Baptist Church Choir. VEC Chairman, Khyolamo proposed the vote of thanks while Associate Pastor Shaki Z. Wopen Patton offered the benediction and the programme chaired by Rtd. Head Teacher A. Oren Khuvung.
