(DIPR Photos) Dimapur, April 20 (DIPR): Sensitization programme on District Disaster Management Plan was held here at Phek Headquarter in the DPDB conference hall on April 20, 2012. Phek Deputy Commissioner Nikhashe Sema gave short speech and said that we need to co-operate each other and coordinate with the all the nodal department because it is everybody’s responsibility to help each other and look after one another during in time of disaster and the general public also should know how to take safety measures in time of disaster. He also said we need to be alert and be prepared as disaster may occur at any time without notice. Phek SDO (C )-1 Razouvolie Dozo presented power point on District Disaster Management Plan and said Disaster Management Plan is activities designed to mitigate the effect of disaster during emergency situations and to provide a framework by helping people in time of disaster. He added that Managing disaster includes step to taken prior to, during and after the disaster where we need preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery. He opined that Nagaland lies in the 5th seismic zone of earthquake for which we need to create awareness and keep alertness of disaster management which will cause all of sudden. Dr. Visitsolie Vupru, MO Civil Hospital, Phek delivered on the topic “First Aid” and said that it is the first help given to a casualty before the arrival of an ambulance or qualified medical practitioner and it aims is to preserve life, to prevent worsening of the condition and to promote recovery. He also demonstrated how to check airway and breading if casualty gets unconscious. Phek District Home Guards Personnel’s demonstrated Mock Drill how to search and rescue. The day long programme was chaired by Temjennaro Longkumer, EAC (HQ) while Phek ADC-11 Bodeno pronounced vote of thanks. Head of Offices, Public Leaders, NGO’s, Church leaders, wards chairman and GB’s attended the programme.
