Hoho demands investigations into Kohima shooting
Dimapur, June 25 (MExN): The Chakhesang Hoho of Kohima today said that the government and law-enforcing agencies must act immediately to identify the criminals who opened fire and injured two civilians in Kohima on June 7.
The government must launch immediate investigations and identify the gunmen who are nothing but criminals, the ‘hoho’ stated. These criminals are a threat to life and society of peaceful citizens and must be stopped, the organization said while denouncing both the crimes and the government authorities themselves for the latter’s way of handling the case.
The Chakhesang Hoho met on June 21 to discuss the shooting and has demanded from the government authorities to investigate the shooting. The two victims, one Nuvohu of Basa village, and the other, Vikono Naleo, were shot at by gunmen and are still in hospital, the hoho said in a pres release received here today.
“(The ‘hoho’) not only condemns the action of the unruly criminals but also the law-enforcing agencies and district administration for its callous attitude of handling the case whereby the criminals are free in the open, making law-abiding citizens vulnerable and insecure,” the ‘hoho’ stated.
“Whoever are the criminals and on what pretext or cause they may profess or claim to be, they are dreadful criminals and their action is a threat to life and security of peace-loving citizens, they must be immediately identified and booked before the law.”
