NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) cadres apprehended



Dimapur, June 25 (MExN): Troops of 1st Assam Rifles under Headquarters 7 Sector Assam Rifles apprehended two NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) cadres namely Nangpa Konyak and Tangto Konyak near Mon road junction and recovered arm and ammunitions on June 19, 2012. This was informed in a press note issued to the media. The note mentioned that while carrying out routine checking of one Maruti Van going towards Mon from Aboi, the patrol party seized one AK 56 Rifle and 30 rounds of ammunition. “The troops of 1st Assam Rifles prevented the likelihood of Inter-Factional Clash (IFC) in Mon area by their timely and swift action and also ensured a check on movement of undergrounds in Mon District,” further stated the note.

A separate press note also informed that on June 22, based on information regarding movement of arms, ammunition and contraband liquor in a civil truck from Dimapur to Kiphire via Zunheboto, troops of 7 Assam Rifles intercepted a civil truck, near petrol pump at Kiphire. Search of the truck led to apprehension of one Atsase, age 28 yrs, s/o Ram Bahadur, r/o village Sampurre, Dist Kiphire, Sergeant of NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) alongwith one Chinese carbine, two magazines and 15 live rounds. On inquiry the cadre revealed that he belongs to Sampurre designated camp of NSCN (Khole-Kitovi). The note further mentioned that subsequently thorough search of vehicle loaded with sand, bricks and other house hold articles  led to the recovery of 82 cases of IMFL to include 80 cases of beer Kingfisher,  one case of whisky Mc Dowel (half bottle) and  one case of whisky Mc Dowel (quarter bottle).  The note stated that Akhaba Sangtam, the driver and Apiba Sangtam the co-driver alongwith the contraband IMFL and the cadre were handed over to Kiphire PS.
