Transport subsidy revisited: Entrepreneurs demand their share

Dimapur, July 10 (MExN):  Entrepreneurs in Nagaland want the Ministry of Industry & Commerce, Government of India to release transport subsidy and capital investment subsidy to Nagaland state which has been on hold since 2007. The All Nagaland Industrial Entrepreneurs Federation (ANIEF) issued a copy of a letter addressed to Union Minister Anand Sharma appealing release of the subsidy.

The ANIEF expressed regret that the Government of India is not releasing the transport and capital investment subsidies to Nagaland since 2007 “due to complaints lodged by Congress Legislature Party.” The complaints were on that many firms are bogus and payments should not be made till they are verified, the organization’s letter stated.
“Since then as per the ministry directives the State’s Industry department along with State Vigilance Commission has verified the selected firms and submitted the report along with the recommendation. In addition the central team has also done pre-auditing in some case and the list of which has been submitted to the ministry for approval and sanctioned,” the ANIEF stated.

The organization called ‘unfortunate’ that no subsidy has been sanctioned to the State after the revised policy was announced. “This has affected the small enterprises badly rendering many of them into a sick unit and force closure,” the ANIEF stated. The organization has requested the minister to release the subsidies to the cases on which pre-audit has been undertaken.
