DLE condemn torture of two students on 'suspicious allegation'

Dimapur, July 11 (MExN): The Dimapur Longsae Ekhung (DLE) has termed strong resentment and condemned the bitter act of Imtiwati Ao, resident of Industrial Village Razuphe on “false allegation” of stealing money from his house on July 6, 2012. The incident was reported to have occurred between 10: 20-11: 30 am by two students namely Mhakhio Lotha, a student of class 11 at St. Stephen’s Higher Secondary School, and T.Lothung Tikhir student of Class 6 at Government High school Lingrijan, Dimapur. The note stated that Imtiwati Ao falsely alleged the students of theft by way of force implicating his minor boy (Domestic helper).

Akum Eung, Chairman and Chobathung Ezung, general secretary DLE in a press note stated, “It has come to the Union knowledge that Imtiwati mercilessly hand over the two minor students to underground cadres on July 7, 2012.  The two students were badly beaten and with bruise marks on their bodies were later released the next day”. The Union also stated that there is evidence from the respective institution that the two students were attending the classes during the time the alleged theft occurred.

Therefore, the DLE in the note stated that it cannot remain silent spectator when its innocent members underwent physical torture and mental trauma, besides bringing bad name to the society and students’ community at large “by a frustrated man” and amounts to be condemned one and all. The union therefore appeal to the investigating authority responsible to book the main culprits at the earliest, so as to deliver justice to those innocent students’ victims.
