Sazolie College celebrates Cultural Day
Kohima, September 3 (MExN): The Sazolie College, Jotsoma held its 3rd Cultural Programme on September 1 at the College Auditorium. The objective of the programme was to celebrate the rich and diverse culture of the Nagas and also to create awareness among the students about the need to preserve their rich cultural heritage. The comperes for the programme were Mr. Vimetha Tacu and Ms. Mary Munghen. The invocation prayer was said by the college Chaplain, Nzan Kikon.
The Principal, Dr. Kangzangding Thou, in his speech talked about some important traditional cultural values shared in common by the Nagas. He exhorted the students to follow these values everywhere because these values will not only make them better individuals, but also present their culture to others in a positive light. He also encouraged the students to learn and study their folktales, folksongs, dances and proverbs. The programme included presentation of folksongs, folk dances and dramas by the Angami, Sumi, Lotha, Zeliang and Ao tribes. A presentation of the different traditional costumes of the Nagas and modern dresses based on traditional motifs enthralled the gathering with its excellent choreography and beautiful designs.
