ICAR imparted Mushroom cultivation training



Dimapur, December 11 (MExN): One day hands-on training programme on ‘Mushroom Cultivation’ was organized by ICAR Nagaland Centre at Lampong Sheanghah village, Mon sponsored by National Agricultural Innovation Project (NAIP) component III. The program was graced by the presence of Longang Konyak, G.B., Tuimei village; Chingngam Konyak, Chairman, Village council, Lampong Shenghah village; N.C. Borah, Technical officer of ICAR; Joseph Kikon, Technical officer of ICAR, Mushroom Section and M. Krose, Research Associate, NAIP.
29 participants attended this training representing Lampong Sheanghah, Phuktong and Tuimei village, Mon selected on the basis of their interest in mushroom cultivation. The trainees gained the knowledge of low cost organic mushroom cultivation through poly bag method. This method is faster (35-40 days for first flash), economically viable (benefit is 2.5 times of the cost of production) and technically suitable for Nagaland. The programme was concluded by the distribution of 100 packets of Mushroom spawn to the trainees.
After the training, visit of expert team to Lampong Sheanghah and Tuimei villages of Mon district were also made to supervise the progress of cultivation of potato, bean, radish, tomato, pea, cabbage, onion and knolkhol in those villages. Dr. B. C. Deka, Joint Director and PI-NAIP and Dr. Dibyendu Chatterjee, Team Leader, NAIP appreciate ICAR staffs, village elders and trainees for successful completion of training and visit.
