Women Football Championship 2012 concludes
Wokha, February 8 (DIPR): The 2nd edition of Late Emi Merry (IAS) Memorial Women Football Championship 2012, organized by Wokha District Women Sports Association concluded on February 7.
In the closing ceremony, the President WDWSA, T. Oreno Murry while highlighting briefly about Late Emi Merry said, "Mrs. Late Emi Merry was the first lady IAS among the Lotha (Kyong) community and the second to Nagas" where in her memory the football tournament has been organized and played in her name since 2011.
The organizing committee has also assured Kyong (Lotha) boys & girls who secured 50th position in the HSLC Examination shall be awarded citation certificate & cash prize of Rs. 5000/- only in her honour beginning from the academic year 2011 and the award would be given during the tournament.
Altogether 11 teams took part in the tournament where Phiro beat Women Football Club Koio to lift the Trophy for the second time. The closing ceremony program was chaired by Thungchibemo Murry, Advisory Board member WDWSA and function was graced by Zuchobeni R. Ezung, former President Kyong Eloe Hoho as the guest of honour. Lovungi Yanthan pronounced the vote of thanks.
