Mokokchung DVFA lifts Nagaland veteran inter-district football champ 2012

Kohima | February 13: Mokokchung District Veteran Football Association today lifted the champion title of 4th Nagaland Veteran Inter-District Football Championship 2012 here at the Kohima Local Ground.

In the finals played here this evening, Mokokchung DVFA defeated the defending champion Nagaland Police veteran football team 5-2 through tie-break.
After 1-1 draw within the stipulated time, the match was decided through tie-break. Alemwapang opened the account for Mokokchung DVFA while the equalizer goal for Nagaland Police veteran team came through Yanbemo Lotha.
Winning the champion title, Mokokchung DVFA pocketed a cash prize of Rs. 30,000 while the runners-up Nagaland Police veteran football team awarded with Rs. 20,000.
Parliamentary secretary youth resources & sports Naiba Konyak graced the closing function as the guest of honour and gave away prize to the winners.
The championship, held under the theme “Reminiscence through football,” was hosted by Kohima District Veteran Football Association.
The next 5th Nagaland Veteran Inter-District Football Championship will be hosted by Dimapur District Veteran Football Association.
Earlier, vote of thanks was proposed by NVFA secretary Tia N. Panger while Imthyla Jamir presented special number.

*Highest Scorer: T. Mangyang (8 goals), Mokokchung District Veteran Football Association
*Best Discipline Team: Kohima District Veteran Football Association
