Lhomithi SC Dimapur has once again emerged as champion of the 3rd Silver Cup T-20 Cricket Tournament organized by Youth Department of Nepali Baptist Church, Kohima under the theme ‘Peace and Unity through Cricket’ at Kohima Local Ground. The defending champions defeated Sparks Cricket Club also from Dimapur by 101 runs in the final match played today at Kohima Local Ground today. Winning the toss Lhomithi SC elected to bat and scored a huge target of 196 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs with Diptesh scoring 44 runs and Gyan Boro 43 runs while Imamul and Ritesh of Sparks shared 2 wickets each. Chasing the huge target, Sparks CC was bowled out in 15.5 overs for 95 runs with Sunil scoring 25 runs. Mridul of Lhomithi took 4 wickets. The champion of received cash award of Rs. 50000 with citation, medal and trophy while runners up received cash award of Rs. 25000. Flamingoz CC and Flaminggoz A become the third and fourth place winners. They received Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5000 respectively with citations. Gracing the closing ceremony as guest of honour, Chairman NKVIB and Advisor Music Task Force, MLA Dr. Nicky Kire gave away the prizes to the winners. Exhorting the players and the gathering, Dr. Nicky said that Cricket has become a lucrative avenue and the State Government has also been giving much importance towards the promotion of the game in the State with construction of the Cricket Stadium in Sovima, Dimapur. He expressed hope that the players of the state would also be playing at the national level and international levels very soon. The closing function commenced with Moon Thabah, former Youth Director NBC Kohima pronouncing invocation and concluded with Evangelist NBC Kohima saying the benediction. Organising committee member John Thakuri tendered the vote of thanks while Annie Konthoujam led the function. Other individual awards went to: Man of the tournament Hokaito Zhimomi of Flamingoz CC for his 240 runs and 11 wickets in five matches. (Rs. 3000 with citation, trophy and medal) Highest Runner Getter Hokaito Zhimomi of Flamingoz CC for his 240 runs (Rs. 1500 with citation and medal) Highest wicket taker Mridul Rongpi of Lhomithi SC for 15 wickets in five matches. (Rs. 1500 with citation and medal) Best Wicket Keeper Chetan Bist of Flamingoz CC (Rs. 1500 with citation and medal) Man of the Final Match Mridul Rongpi of Lhomithi SC for 4 wickets and 12 runs.
