Zbto Open Badminton C'ship tournament concludes



Zunheboto, July 5 (DIPR): The Zunheboto district 1st Open Badminton Championship tournament which started on July 3 concluded on July 5 at Badminton Stadium Zunheboto. Executive Engineer, Irrigation & Flood Control Zunheboto Hutoi Aye graced the inaugural function as the Chief Guest, wherein he said that these days, sports professionals are treated with due respect in all the countries including India. He said that some sports persons have even been inducted to hold a position in Parliament in India. He lauded the participants' enthusiasm. The closing function was graced by Engineer DRDA Zunheboto, Inahoto Yeptho. In the women single, Dokhe Yeptho, Hinokali and Kaliho Kinimi bagged the first, second and third position respectively while in the men's single, Yekhievi Achumi, Vipulhou Lhoungu and Nitoshe Yeptho bagged the first, second and third position respectively. In men's double, Bokato Zhimo and Tokishe Sumi, Kavito Chophy and Khuto and Hutoi Aye & Yekhuvi Achumi got first, second and third positions respectively. Veteran men's double (above 55) Shiluho Chophy & Shikiye Toyi, Vikheto Assumi & Yeptohe Chisho and Khehoto Kiho & Ahovi Swu got the first, second and third positions respectively.

PDBA cum selection for district tournament Nagaland held

Phek, July 5 (DIPR): The Phek District Badminton Association (PDBA) cum selection for district tournament Nagaland 2012 was held on July 5 at Phek with Project Director, DRDA Phek, M. Shayung Phom as chief guest. The Project Director in his speech appreciated and encouraged the PDBA as well as the players from off place and further assured them his support. Secretary (Youth & Resources) to the Government of Nagaland, Sachopra Vero in his short speech also said that God's gifted cannot be utilized if one does not know how to use it, but if one knows, he or she should have to develop own interest to become a national/international player. The programme was chaired by Khrusa Keyho, Publicity & Information Secretary, PDBA, while the invocation prayer was pronounced by Veruyoi Khesoh, Pastor Police Baptist Church, (DEF) Phek.
