A mess belonging to the GPRN/NSCN at Ahthibung town being locked down on Thursday.

 

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 7 (MExN): Following a directive issued by the Ceasefire Monitoring Group/Ceasefire Supervisory Board chairman to close down all unauthorized offices and camps belonging to different Naga political groups, a drive was initiated at Ahthibung town under Peren district by the Assam Rifles, district administration and Nagaland police.  According to a press statement issued by Head GB of Athibung town, on Thursday a ‘Mess’ belonging to the GPRN/NSCN Kuki Region in Ahthibung town was locked down in the presence of SDO Civil, Ahthibung post commander Assam Rifles, OC Ahthibung police station, GBs and village authorities. Members of the GPRN/NSCN were also present.

 

 The military cadres who were stationed in the Mess were also asked to move back to their camps until the final outcome of the Indo-Naga peace talks or else face arrest. The GBs and chairmen of different localities in Ahthibung town were directed to inform the public not to let out their premises for such activities to any Naga political groups. As per the letter addressed to the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, North Block dated October 30 which was attached along with the press statement, the chairman of CFMG/CFSB had convened a series of meeting with the NSCN groups under ceasefire with GoI during the last week of October, 2019 at CFMG office complex Kohima over the issue of the “NSCN groups running various unauthorized offices under different names such as CAO, UT-1, UT-2, Command Centre etc.”  As directed by the chairman of CFMG/CFSB, all the NSCN groups agreed to close down such mobile offices in the district of Nagaland with immediate effect in the light of the agreed ceasefire, the letter from the chairman reported.
