Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) burned the effigy of union home minister Amit Shah in protest against passing of CAB in the parliament.

They staged a dharna on December 11 here at Congress Bhavan in protest against Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 as well as allegation on misuse of funds on certain water supply projects.

After staging the dharna, the NPYC registered a case at Lokayukta against PHED and PWD department.

NPYC president Vilhousilie Kenguruse said that they have filed a case at Lokayukta against the PHED department of Nagaland for not completing the project in time under RD Chiephobozou water supply for 24 villages under Kohima district.

Among the many placard reads “Don’t misuse fund,” “Schemes and project are pocket money for ministers and bureaucrats,” “Water basic needs of human beings.”

Don’t dare pushing CAB to north east,” Stop citizenship Amendment Bill, Give the people of North East,”  “Scrap citizenship Amendment Bill 2016,” “Stop unconstitutional CAN, save North East.”

Kenguruse said NPYC would wait for 10 days and would take up next course of action on failure of the government to act upon.

Kenguruse informed that NPYC has also filed the case at Lokayukta against the PWD department for not complying the standard of notice inviting tender (NIT) issued the by the chief engineer PWD (R&B) on PMGSY-11 tender.

The NPYC alleged that such practice by the department will not promote the young contractors but to favour only a handful of contractors resulting to favouritism and nepotism.

Kenguruse urged the authority to complete Zarü river water supply project and Mitelepe village water project where both the projects suppose to be completed by December 2019, so that public do not face water scarcity in the state capital and the concern village.

All India Youth Congress secretary (Nagaland incharge) Sarifa Rahman said the passing of CAB has broken the preamble Constitution of India which has destroyed one of the fundamental rights that grant right to equality.

She lamented that BJP government has passed the Bill based on religion and not on humanitarian ground which is against the basic principle of the county’s constitution.
