NSUB Golden Jubilee Sports Meet concludes

Participants of the NSUB sports meet which concluded on October 12.

 

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 16 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Union Bangalore (NSUB) conducted its annual sports meet from October 11 to 12 at ITI Ground, KR Puram, Bangalore. 


This year, the Sports Meet was named as Golden Jubilee Sports Meet to commemorate 50 years of NSUB in Bangalore, which will be celebrated on November 16.

 
The opening ceremony was graced by Utham Chengappa, Founding Partner of MCM Law, as the Chief Guest. The Chief Guest spoke on the importance of community bonding. 


Nuthipru Nienu, President NSUB delivered the welcome speech. He exhorted the crowd not to lose sight of our objectives. Rules and regulations were outlined by NSUB Sports Secretary, Kezholeto Zao, followed by oath taking. The two day event witnessed more than 3000 people. 13 Sub-Units participated in the event and altogether more than 700 participants took part in the event. 


During the two day meet, games like Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Tug of War, 100 Meter race, 200 Meter race, Relay Race, Push Up and Arm Wrestling were played. For the first time in NSUB Sports Meet’s history with much anticipation from the onlookers and participants indigenous games like cock fight, Bamboo Climbing and Top Spinning were introduced. There were cash prizes for all the winners for all games along with medals and certificates. 


Tangkhul Naga Welfare Society Bengaluru were declared the overall champion and Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Bangalore was adjudged the Best Disciplined Team of the NSUB Golden Jubilee Sports Meet 2019


The NSUB in a press release expressed gratitude to corporate event sponsor Bosti, a start up venture from Nagaland based in Bangaluru, The Amateur League Specialist Hospital and Redbull, Overall Champion sponsor Vikato Achumi, Former NSUB Treasurer, Fitness partner CB Physiotherapy, Football Officials from Stadium Sports Academy and Decathlon for sponsoring kids games and senior citizens games and to all the individual sponsors for sponsoring cash prizes for different games.
