Mon, September 19 (MExN): Department of Agriculture, Mon launched Pradhan Mantri Dha Yojana (PM-KMDY) for Mon District at Council Hall, Mon on September 17. Farmers from 38 villages under Mon district attended the programme.


A DIPR report stated that in the key note address Nungsangkaba, District Agriculture Officer, Mon explained in brief the objectives of PM-KMDY, which is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme for the farmers. For the scheme, the entry age group is 18 to 40 years. There is a felt need to create a social security net for the farming community as old age may result in loss of livelihood for the farmers, he added. Community Service Centres (CSC) manager and her team were present in the programme. 


The operational guidelines were printed in local dialect (Konyak) and distributed to the participants. 


The PM-KMY is a central sector Scheme, administered by the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India in partnership with the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). Under this scheme, it provides for an assured monthly pension of Rs. 3000 to all land holding Small and Marginal Farmers (SMFs) whether male or female, on attaining the age of 60 years.
