NCWA to celebrate “birth of every girl child”

Dimapur, September 2 (MExN):  Nagaland Catholic Women Association (NCWA) will celebrate the “birth of every girl child” on September 8 at the Parishes of Kohima Diocese. The NCWA has therefore asked the Parishes to follow up and report on the celebration during the executive meeting to be held on October 8 to 10.

USLB condemns

Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): The United Sangtam Likhum Bumji (USLB) has condemned the killing of the Railway Bazar GB on August 20 and the rape of a pregnant woman on August 27 at Old Showba village. A press note from USLB stated that such a crime should be condemned by all, terming it as “the highest inhuman and uncivilized act.” USLB has further urged the government to give justice to the victim and befitting punishment to the culprits. Meanwhile, USLB has wished all Sangtams a very happy Amongmong.

Free dental health check at HRHC Chumu

Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): The Indian Dental Association Nagaland State Branch will organise free dental health check up cum anti tobacco and oral cancer camp, sponsored by (HRHC) on September 6 next from 9 am onwards at the Holy Redeemer Health Centre (HRHC) at Chumukedima.  A press note issued by its honoury secretary, Dr. K Alex Kithan informed the public to avail the opportunity.

SRPUD elects new office bearers

Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): The Satoi Range Public Union Dimapur (SRPUD), in its general meeting held on August 30, elected a new team of office bearers with Phukato Zhimomi as President, Shitovi Hokiye, Vice President, and Khevishe Thakiye as General Secretary. This was informed in a release issued by Phukato Zhimomi, the newly elected President.

Wokha Town Council informs

Wokha, September 2 (DIPR): Wokha town Council has banned the selling of pork at the rate of Rs. 110/120 per Kg and it also banned selling of chicken and duck without scaling weight. The Chairman, Wokha Town Council, E. Wopenthung Kikon has warned that those found violating the order of Wokha Town Council shall be punished as per the rules and no leniency shall be extended to them.

OC Kuzhama lauded

Dimapur September 2(MExN): The Executive Engineer, Zunheboto, in a note received here today lauded the OC of Kuzhama Police Check Gate & his team on being diligent and for timely action in confiscating a stolen vehicle, (Bolero) bearing registration No. NL-10 5533.The vehicle was reportedly stolen from Para-medical colony, Kohima on September 1 last, the note added.

TYO to conduct mass social work

Kohima, September 2 (MExN): With a view to beautify and clean the lakes, footpaths and drainage within the jurisdiction of the Khel and Sokhriezie Lake, BOC, the Tsutuonuomia Youth Organization, Kohima Village will be organizing a mass social work on September 6 from 9:00 AM onwards. All the members of the Khel irrespective of residence have been requested to participate in the said programme.

Naga Council condemn against Orissa terror 

Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): The Naga Council of Dimapur expresses condemnation against the persecution of Christians by Hindu fundamentalists in Orissa. The Naga Council said the latest spate of anti-Christian violence in Orissa is not the first time that Hindu bigots like the VHP and Bajarang Dal has taken to. The Naga Council in a message today expressed solidarity with the suffering of the minorities who are bleeding under the hands of fundamentalists.
The council also appeals to the “Hindu brothers” in Nagaland to apprise their counterparts in Orissa to be more tolerant with other religious communities in Orissa “as they have been living harmoniously here in the Christian state of Nagaland”. All tribe hohos, councilors and concerned citizens are requested to participate in the prayer chain and rally at City Tower in Dimapur on September 7.

245 bottles of IMFL seized

Dimapur, September 2 (MExN): The district excise personnel manning the excise check gate during August 25 to 31 last, detected and recovered a total of 245 bottles of IMFL and Beer of different brands.  In this connection, 5 persons were arrested and penalized as per the relevant section of NLTP Act 1989 and the seized articles were deposited in the excise ‘malkhana.’ The duty party consists of assistant inspector of excise, Bauloi Phom, assistant inspector, Toluvi along with head constables, Nungden and Murucho, constables, Theyevilie, Thriose, Nyangphen, Pangyangand Pangti, stated Pitongse Sangtam, Superintendent of Excise and Prohibition, Dimapur. 

EFM informs HSLC 2008 toppers

Mokokchung, September 2 (MExN): The Education Forum of Mokokchung (EFM) today informed the HSLC 2008 subject toppers to attend the Teachers Day function to be held at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on 5th September, 2008 to receive their awards. EFM also invited the position holders in the HSLC Top Twenty from Mokokchung district to receive their awards.

The awardees are:
