Congress Youth responds to NPF Youth Wing

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 4 (MExN): In response to the NPF Youth Wing’s statement on the defending of deteriorating law and order situation to NPCC’s “genuine concern”, the Nagaland Pradesh Youth Congress (NPYC) stated that instead of dealing with the prevailing situation sensibly, the NPF youth wing was obsessed with self acclamation, complacency and arrogance. In a press release issued by its general secretary (media), Kughato Aye, the NPYC accused the NPF youth of trying to shift the responsibility of the NPF-led DAN government’s failures elsewhere.
The Congress youth also termed it as ironic that the NPF youth claimed that Nagas were enjoying one of the most peaceful periods, and contradicting the statement by accusing the NPCC of raising the issue of killing of innocent civilians. It stated that the contradiction showed the DAN government’s insensibility and lack of political will to accept the reality, also indicating where the government stood today.
The release stated that that NPCC remained on the frontline of Nagaland state politics since its inception and added that at no point of time this “premier political institution” had shied away from issues of public importance. The Congress youth further stated that the NPCC is consistent in its efforts to do the best for the people. Referring to the issue of finding solution to the Naga political issue, the release stated that NPCC had clearly pointed out in its press statement that it was during the Congress regime that several rounds of political talks were held and ceasefire agreement signed with the NSCN (IM) in 1997, and NSCN (K) in 2001, and that ever since, political negotiations were on. Therefore, the Congress youth appealed to the NPF youth wing to avoid giving such “messy statements” and be realistic in its approach to the issues of public importance.
