BJP president on peaceful DMC election
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 5 (MExN): State BJP president, Ato Yepthomi, today thanked all the party workers led by Parliamentary Secretary Y Patton for the peaceful conduct of Dimapur Municipal by-election for Ward No. 13 in favour of NPF candidate, Yanger Ao. The press release issued by V Shikuto Sema stated that in the greater interest of the DAN alliance, the BJP president called upon all the party workers to work in the same spirit in future. The party also urged upon the NPF party to start having coordination meetings of Alliance partners, in view of the forthcoming parliament and municipal elections.
1 arrested with 360 bottles assorted Rum
Dimapur, September 5 (MExN): On a tip-off, the District Excise enforcement personnel, under the command of Shihai Yeptho, Assistant Inspector of Excise, along with Head constables Savito and Kheno, and Khekavi, Jona, Kavito, Lipoktoshi, Keneigoutou, and TK Medom, all constables of excise, apprehended one Lakiu Yimchungru, a resident of Tuensang town, and seized a total of 360 bottles of assorted Rum from his possession on September 4. The accused has been booked and penalised under the relevant section of NLTP Act 1989 and the seized articles deposited in the Excise Malkhana.
Illegal alcohol seized
Peren, September 5 (MExN): Police personnel manning Old Jalukie Check Gate, while performing frisking, seized 18 (eighteen) cases of assorted liquor (IMFL) on September 3, from the possession of Enock Zeliang of Samjuiram village. SP Peren, in a release, informed that the accused, along with the seized IMFL, has been forwarded to judicial custody and a case registered at Peren PS.
KNCS emergency meeting on Sept 6
Kohima, September 5 (MExN): The Kyong Naga Cultural Society (KNCS) will hold an emergency meeting on September 6 at the residence of its vice president Willson Odyuo, Below Satyasabha Hall, Supply Colony, Kohima. All the executive members of KNCS have been asked to attend the same positively.
Polio drops to be administered
DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 5 (MExN): In view of the recent report on detection of polio cases in Dimapur and also in keeping with the 2nd and 3rd Rounds of Sub-National Immunization Day (IPPI), the public are directed to take their children (0 -5 years of age) to the nearest polio booths to be administered polio drops on September 7 and September 28, 2008 respectively. This was informed through a press release issued by ADC Kohima, Zeneituo Yano.
