Legislators and Policy makers attend e-Governance Leadership Meet



Dimapur, October 30 (MExN): As a follow up of the e-Governance Workshop for Legislators and Policy makers organised by the Department of Information Technology, Government of Nagaland in November 2008, an e-Governance Leadership Meet was organised at Hyderabad by the Department of IT & Communication, Nagaland in collaboration with National Institute for Smart Governance (NISG) on October 27 and 28. The Leadership meet is part of the Capacity Building programme under the National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) of the Government of India.
The primary objective of this leadership meet is to clarify the major issues associated with e-Governance both as a concept and an implementing process and to provide participants with best practices of e-governance projects in India as well as other parts of the world so as to benefit from the experience of others and also learn from their mistakes.
The training included intensive discussions on the e-Governance initiatives across the country and also field visits of various successful e-Governance projects in Andhra Pradesh like the Health Management and Research Institute’s (HMRI’s) 104 advice and 104 mobile projects, Andhra Pradesh’s Transport project, eSeva project and Ctrl S’ Data centre which is a Data centre with the state of the art facilities.
The resource persons for the meet were Prof. Subhash Bhatnagar, IIM Ahmedabad & Advisor, NISG, P V Unnikrishnan, Member Planning Commission, Kerala, Nirmal Kumar Mandal, Project Manager, NISG, Amit Chakravaty, Project Manager, NISG Rajat Garg, Consultant CCTNS, NISG, Abhishek Singh, Director, DIT, Government of India and Dr. Dinesh Tyagi, CEO (CSC), IL&FS.
The e-Governance Leadership meet was a very enriching experience for the participants and it concluded with a sharing on e-Government initiatives in Nagaland with a focus on NeGP followed by an open house discussion on Road ahead for implementing e-Gov projects in Nagaland.
