Festival of hope, justice and peace in Imphal

Imphal | November 4 : Noted writer Deepti Priya said during the Festival of Hope, Justice and Peace in Imphal on Wednesday that hunger striker Irom Sharmila is struggling not only for Manipur but for the people as a whole.
The festival which began since November 2 will conclude on November 6. The Festival has been organised by the Justice Foundation, Manipur as an act of endorsement to the cause of hunger striker Irom Sharmila who has been on a fast-unto-death agitation since the year 2000. The agitation of Sharmila has crossed nine years on November 2.
Author Deepti Priya Mahrotra has written a book on Irom Sharmila recently. Deepti while talking to some media persons has termed the struggle of Irom Sharmila as remarkable.
Magsaysay Award winner and Doyen of Indian Literature Mahosweta are also participating. The two noted personalities are observing the festival while sitting amidst Sharmila Kanba Lup (Save Sharmila Organisation) activists in Imphal on Wednesday. The Festival of Hope, Justice and Peace is being observed as part of a campaign in the cause of Irom Sharmila.
