GPRN/NSCN invites Nagas to 2nd Anniversary of Naga Unification
Dimapur, November 19 (MExN): The Government of the People’s Republic of Nagaland (GPRN/NSCN) is celebrating the 2nd Anniversary of the Naga Unification at Designated Camp (Khehoi) on 22nd November 2009 at 8:30 am. Preparation for the grand celebration is on full swing, informed a press note issued by the organizing committee through the MIP, GPRN/NSCN. In this regard, the GPRN has invited members from all Naga Frontal Organizations and concerned Naga social classes namely the Naga Hoho and its constituent units, the ENPO and its units, the NMA and its units, the NSF and its federating Units, the ENSF and its units, the NPMHR (all Sectors), the FNR, the NBCC and its affiliating Units, the NCF, the GB’s & DB’s Forum, Naga Intellectuals, Social Reformers, Village Chairmen and Elders, Non-Naga Community Leaders, the Press Fraternity from Nagaland and outside (both print and media). Besides, friends and well-wishers of the Naga people’s struggle have also been invited to be a part of the celebration. According to the press note despite the best efforts, invitation cards may not reach to all esteemed personalities and therefore this press statement may be considered as a genuine invitation. Lunch shall be provided to all the delegates while GPRN annual calendar shall be provided to the special guests.
NPF Youth Wing endorses Retirement Act
Dimapur, November 19 (MExN): The Youth Wing of the Naga People’s Front has reaffirmed its decision to extend unflinching support to the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and party president Dr. Shürhozelie. During the recently concluded leadership training held on November 17 and 18, the house adopted resolutions to discourage money politics during elections stating that “it is drenching the economy of our people and inviting circles and corruption within our society”. It was also resolved to endorse the enactment of the government employee Retirement Act as “it is in the interest of the younger generation and it will benefit the youths”. The NPF Youth Wing’s press secretary, Achamo Kikon, in a release informed that participants at the training programme took time to reflect on the guidance of good leadership, adding that “it is essential for us as a political party and as a society to choose and preserve leader that possesses ability to endure sacrifice and be honest to the people, be truthful, hold integrity, visionary and ability to inspire.” The members further resolved to endorse the policy of the DAN government in playing the role of facilitator for resolving the long pending Indo-Naga political issue. It was also decided that youth leaders be taken into confidence in the process of selection in government programmes including CMCF, PMEGR or any other programmes involving development of youth.
Army officer visits Khar village
Mokokchung, November 19 (DIPR): Lieutenant Colonel R K Dogra of the Naga Regiment visited Khar village, about 55km from Mokokchung town, on November 18, in an effort to acquaint himself with the villagers and to understand their socio-economic status. On his arrival, the army officer was accorded a warm welcome by the Village Council members, many of whom were ex-servicemen, and had a meeting with them. The visiting army officer assured to provide a computer to the village council and also assured all possible help in their developmental activities. Lt. Col Dogra who is posted at Mokokchung has said he would be visiting a number of villages in the district to get to know the people living in the villages.
Seyochung village NPF party reorganised
Dimapur, November 19 (MExN): The Seyochung Village NPF party unit, in its executive meeting held on November 13 undertook reorganisation of the village NPF unit level by electing new office bearers to strengthen the party. The house elected Kyurijung as president to replace Muise, while Selichem Sangtam was selected as secretary in place of Thsioli. They were appointed “with immediate effect”, informed a press release issued by the newly elected president and secretary.
