‘Life would not be possible without skills’
Dimapur, November 26 (MExN): Life would not be possible without skills and each one of us has skills which are acquired as we go on with our lives, stated Dr. P Basak, an expert from Kolkata at a day long consultation meeting on “Prospects and challenges of skill training in the unorganized sector” on November 25 last at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur.
While stressing the importance of skills, the resource person for the day, Dr. Basak favored being a good human being above all the skills a person may have or acquire to progress in life. Dr. Basak pointed out that all the skills are basically directed at fulfilling the eight needs of a human being which he pointed out as biological & physiological, safety, belongingness & love, esteem, cognitive needs, aesthetic, self actualization, and transcendence needs, stated a press note received here.
The note stated that while speaking on the necessary requirements of livelihood, Dr. Basak also shared about various dimensional skills for a better life and livelihood most of which are not taught in schools or educational institutions but are acquired as we go on with our life.
Moreover, towards the conclusion of the meeting, Felix D’Souza, Program Manager of FVTRS, in sharing about his organization discussed in detail how they support NGOs for training school drop-out youth and the necessary steps to take up vocational training by concerned NGOs, it added.
It also mentioned that organizational heads and representatives from 20 NGOs of Nagaland including two NGOs from Manipur participated in the day long Consultation meeting organized by Functional Vocational training and Research Society, (FVTRS) Bangalore and Hosted by Prodigals’ Home & Youth Centre – Peace Channel Dimapur.
