Tehelka journalists summoned by Comm
Imphal | November 26 : The two journalists of Tehelka, Delhi based weekly magazine, have been summoned on Thursday by the Justice (rtd) Agarwal Commission of Inquiry of July 23 shootout at Khwairamban Bazaar (Imphal market), led by P.G Agarwal, retired justice Gauhati High Court. The two journalists of the weekly magazine, Tehelka have been identified as Teresa Rehman and Soma Chowdhury. The summons have reportedly been sent through Tarun J. Tejpal, editor, Tehelka.
Justice Agarwal Commission, one man commission led by the retired Justice, Gauhati High Court was initiated on August 27 instructed by the state government of Manipur. It may be recalled that the two journalists of Tehelka, a Delhi-based weekly magazine had released the series of pictures of the July 23 incident where Chongkham Sanjit and Th. Rabina were allegedly killed by Manipur police.
P.G Agarwal informed that the two journalists required to dispose the story related to the series of photos of the July 23 incident released in the weekly magazine. He also stated that the statements of the two witnesses, P. Lukhoi Singh and T. Ranbir Singh of the July 23 incident had been recorded.
Informing that fresh summons have been served to Golmei Mandal Rongmei and Th. James, P.G Agarwal further said that the duo will have to appear before the commission on the next hearing which is scheduled on December 16. Golmei Mandal Rongmei is currently undergoing treatment at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.
