Young talents exhibit art work
Kohima, December 3 (MExN): For the first time, the department of art & culture has exhibited a great number of art works by “young talents” at the 24th Nagaland State Art Exhibition at Kisama within the World War II Museum premises coinciding with the Hornbill Festival 2009.
The director of the department in a press note stated that altogether over 80 works of various artists are on display. Besides, 60 sketches used as illustration for the departmental publication titled ‘Fables from the Misty Mountains’ which was released by the Governor of Nagaland Nikhil Kumar during the inaugural function of Hornbill Festival on December 1 last, which are also put up for public view.
Moreover cash awards will be awarded to the artists on the seventh day of the festival at Kisama. In senior category Rs 10000/- each has been won by Nungshirenba in craft section, Seyiekielie Tepa in painting section, Vikhor Tepa in graphic section and Kethoselie in drawing section.
In the junior category, cash prize of Rs 5000/-each has been bagged by Athrong Yimchunger in drawing section, Wabang Ao and Kikruyalie in painting section.
Winners of consolation prizes are: Tsunglungtsaba Sangtam, Lohra Panger, Pangeronen, Avito Miachieo, W. Omwang Konyak, M. Langsothung, L. Langphong, Jem Phong K, Mhasiselhu and
Lhoulavikho.
The note also mentioned that the department is happy to note the number of new talents is being exposed to the public through the State Art Exhibition every year. It claimed that the exhibition during
the first two days of the festival “witnessed a host of visitors and also a good number of booking and sale
of artworks”.
