Air India to operate spl flights to Northeast

Mumbai, December 18 (PTI): Air India will operate around 36 additional flights to cater to the heavy rush of passengers to popular holiday destinations expected during this winter.
“With scheduled flights of all airlines being booked during this peak season, Air India has stepped in by deploying additional services. The airline would operate 36 additional flights to Goa, Port Blair and Northeast from Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata between December 23 to January 10,” an Air India official said.
The national carrier would be operating a total of 19 additional flights from Chennai to Port Blair between December 23 and January 10, 2010. Also, it will operate an extra flight on the Kolkata-Port Blair-Kolkata sector on two days -- December 24 and 29 -- to meet the heavy rush of passengers. These would be in addition to the daily scheduled flights.
Similarly, Air India would be operating an additional flight on the Delhi-Goa-Delhi route between December 23 and January 7 to meet the increased demand for seats to Goa for Christmas and New Year.
“The additional flight would operate on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, leaving Delhi at 1430 hours and reaching Goa at 1700 hours. The return flight from Goa will leave at 1740 hours and reach Delhi at 2025 hours,” the statement said.
The national carrier, which serves as the lifeline to the Northeast, would also operate three additional flights from Kolkata to Aizawl on December 19 and to Dimapur on December 20 and 23, to meet the increased demand.
