RNTCP 4th quarterly review meeting cum annual review meeting conducted
Kohima, January 22 (MExN): The 4th quarterly review meeting cum annual review meeting of the Revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP) was held on January 19 at the Conference Hall, Tourist Lodge Dimapur.
The achievements made by the districts during 2009 were discussed at length. In terms of the overall performance, Kohima bagged the first position. The second position was shared by Dimapur and Mokokchung while Tuensang and Wokha together stood third. “Various categories of Staff” were also awarded cash citations, informed a press release issued by the State TB Officer (RNTCP), Directorate of Health &Family Welfare.
The note also mentioned that Nagaland has consistently been in the target zone at the National level for the last three years. In the 4th quarter 2009, the Case Detection Rate (CDR) was 70% while the Cure Rate (CR) was 90%. The annual performance of 2009, the Case Detection Rate was 80% (National target 70%) and Cure Rate was 90% (National target 85%) which are the two main indicators for measuring the performance of the Programme.
It also added that while congratulating the good performing districts during his presentation, the State TB Officer, Dr. K T Lotha urged the other poor performing districts to improve their performance in the days to come. The North East Consultant for RNTCP, Dr. Palash Talukdar gave an overview of the RNTCP scenario in Nagaland while the Programme was chaired by Dr. John Sweyievisa, Joint Director DHFW. The Meeting was attended by all the officers and staff of State TB Cell and the District TB Centres.
