ABCC volunteers in sanitation move
Kohima, February 8 (MExN): Twenty four members of ABCC sanitation volunteers - one doctor, one architect, one advocate, two postgraduates, three postgraduate above, six engineers, three lectures, four students/youth leaders, three theologians (pastor, chaplain and youth director) had volunteered to collect all kinds of waste at the quasqui centennial meeting venue, Kohima local ground, from February 4 to 7.
A press note from the Group Captain for ABCC Sanitation Volunteers stated: “Sanitation is the foundation of health, dignity, development, education and prosperity. The Bible says your camp (wherever you are) must be clean so that god will not see among you anything indecent and turn away from you Our Christian identity, originality and greatness are acquired from the principle Great is he who serves rather than being served.”
It also cited that “The AYO says Random disposal of waste is insult to neighbor”. It added that the society wants a clean and safe environment but the worst is being given. Moreover, it lamented that “black-topped roads” hardly last for three to six months and stated that “the public litters this god given holy land of ours without compunction”.
Moreover, in regard to the voluntary work, the ABCC volunteers stated: “We are happy for undertaking this exercise and we will continue to do so in our respective circles. We also suggest that the public too carries out sanitation programs and have competitions in their respective colonies. We will be able to do so if we do.”
