Association demands govt for authority to arrest power thefts
Kohima, February 8 (MExN): The All Nagaland Electricity Field Workers Association (ANEFWA) held an emergency meeting on February 5 last at the Kohima Contractor Union Conference Hall, where it discussed several issues and resolved to address the grievances faced by the Association.
The joint secretary of the Association on behalf of the members in a press release stated that the members deliberated on the issue for improvement of the department’s revenue and came to the conclusion that the cause of low revenue is because of the increase in power thefts and the “ineffectiveness” of the concerned department to arrest the culprits and recover the “defaulted amount”.
In regard to the said issue, the Association has suggested that the government should give them the authority to arrest the defaulters.
The note also stated that in the meeting the members resolved that it will extend its assistance to pensioners belonging to ANEFWA, especially the ones who are from “remote area”.
Meanwhile, the Association also resolved to submit several representations to the concerned authority, related to immediate issuance of tool kit to the members, to frame service rule, to “fill up the existing technical vacancies in the Department by way of promotion on the basis of seniority” and to expand “every division to the post of Supervisor Meter Inspector and Shifting Engineer”, the press note added.
It also went on saying that the Association further resolved to contribute to “Ex-gratia Scheme (a)”. The members also discussed the work-charge commission and regularization of work charged employees belonging to ANEFWA.
The ANEFWA also resolved to increase its membership fee from Rs 50/- to Rs 100/- for 2010.
