Mkg aggrieved teachers demand justice
Mokokchung, February 8 (MExN): Close on the heels of the “aggrieved adhoc” teachers of Nagaland having a meeting in Dimapur on January 29 to address their grievance, the Mokokchung unit of the Aggrieved Ad Hoc teachers’ Association, today appealed the state government to “intervene” in the matter and deliver justice to them. The Aggrieved Adhoc Teachers’ Association Mokokchung (AATAM) also demanded the state government to disclose the full details of the SIT investigation report at the earliest. Besides, they are also demanding an extension of their service and release of their salaries which have been withheld for the past twelve months.
Speaking with some media persons at the AKM Conference Hall here today, the members of the AATAM expressed strong resentment that the state government is withholding the salaries of the aggrieved adhoc teachers though they have been rendering their teaching services for the whole 2009 academic session. Their salaries have been withheld by the government since January 2009, after the state government formed the SIT to investigate into the bogus teachers’ appointment. However, the aggrieved teachers resented that they have not been issued any termination order and have been allowed to continue teaching in their respective schools, though the state government withheld their salaries for the whole year. Hinting that they have been left in a quandary, the aggrieved teachers informed that they have not been given any service extension and also termination of their services.
In this regard, the aggrieved adhoc teachers of Mokokchung strongly expressed their feelings that they have been discriminated unnecessarily and therefore appealed the state government to disclose the details of the SIT investigation and also take necessary intervention so as to address their grievances. Some of the aggrieved adhoc teachers have been working as a teacher in the government schools for more than six years, they said.
Refusing to disclose their future course of action, the aggrieved adhoc teachers of Mokokchung however confessed that they would not sit still but plan on a further course of action till justice is met.
Meanwhile, the Aggrieved Adhoc Teachers Association Mokokchung held a meeting today, February 8, at Mokokchung, where it was resolved to ask those unregistered ‘aggrieved adhoc teachers’ to register with the association latest by February 13. The Association requested those concerned aggrieved teachers to contact the AATAM at Phone numbers: (0369)2227552 and 9862141898.
It may be mentioned here that the “aggrieved adhoc” teachers held a general meeting on January 29 at Government Higher Secondary School Dimapur and resolved to form an association. The association was formed by the government school teachers who were affected by the government appointed ‘SIT’ investigation into the bogus teachers’ appointment in the government schools.
While the academic session for the year 2010 has already begun in the state, it is wondered whether the ongoing SIT investigation into the bogus appointment of teachers in the government schools, which have been going on for the past one year, would have an adverse affect on the academic session of the government schools.
