Murry, Pangnyu attends NCP national conclave

Kohima, March 19 (MExN): Minister for agriculture Dr. Chumben Murry and Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Development & REPA S. Pangnyu Phom attended the two days National Conclave of the NCP held from March 13 to 14 at Karla near Pune. The Conclave discussed many important issues facing the nation like the women reservation bill, the increasing urban population, related to youths etc. A press note issued by S. Azio Kithan, state general secretary (Admn) NCP Nagaland stated that Dr. Murry in his speech opined that the NCP Nagaland supported the move for women reservation bill but he also said that for a small house like Nagaland Assembly, 33 % reservation may be very high and that a rethinking on the percentage is required. He also stated that the youth of the country has to be sensitized in a lot of issues and that the party has to have policies committed to the welfare of the youths.
Stating on rural to urban migration, Dr. Murry said that in Nagaland this is not a favorable trends. The reason is that, people usually of the work force segments migrate to the urban area only to discover that ‘the dreams of living a good life in the urban sector is non existent’ and added that many of such people not wanting to go back to the villages turn to anti social activities. Therefore, he said, policy related to such matters should be based on the needs of the different states. Dr. Murry also said that there should be infrastructure development schemes for villagers.  The conclave was chaired by National NCP president Sharad Pawar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Allied.
