NU’s Ao students celebrate Tsüngremmong festival

Kohima, July 31 (DIPR): The Post Graduate Ao Students Fellowship, Nagaland University, Lumami celebrated Tsüngremmong festival on July 31, at the Nagaland University, Lumami, under the theme “Knowledge with traditional values”.
The programme was graced by Dr. S C Jamir, former Chief Minister of Nagaland and former Governor of Maharasthra and Goa, as the chief guest. In his speech, the chief guest emphasized on the present day challenges faced by today’s youth. He exhorted the youths to seek the truth and tackle the present day challenges and work hard to repair ills of the society.
The function was also attended by Kheto Kinimi, MLA and Prof. K. Kannan, Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University.
They extended Tsüngremmong greetings on the occasion. Other dignitaries who attended the function included Dr. P. H. Naik, Registrar Nagaland University and Village Council Members of Chuchuyimpang and Ungma Village. Sangyusang Pongener, Tatar Ungma, Sangeet Natak Academy 2003 National Awardee, enlightened the gathering by speaking about the traditional moral values.
Moaliba Ozukum, Convenor of the Post Graduate Ao Students’ Fellowship gave the welcome address.
The Clark Theological College Ao Laishir Telongjem entranced the gathering with a beautiful Traditional tune with a modern touch. Temsumoa, Chairman, Chuchuyimpang Village Council, enlightened the gathering with the history and significance of the festival. A special prayer was pronounced by I Lima Jamir, Pastor, Kumlong Baptist Church invoking Tsüngremmong blessings.
The programme culminated with the Tsüngremong Community Feast.
