Cultural exchange seminar on environment awareness

Dimapur, February 17 (MExN): The 5 days inter-tribal cultural exchange seminar on environment awareness programme ended on February 11. R. Khing, Parliamentary Secretary for Horticulture, Nagaland was the chief guest on the inaugural function on February 7. Khing in his inaugural speech said that the Government of India has special attention for Global warming awareness as environment awareness is very much needed at the hour. Khing said that as the theme says “Confluence of Man and Nature” both human and nature are inter-dependent. Khing also said that the State Government of Nagaland is working on its best to bring about environmental awareness through different Government agency for healthier and better living.
On the inaugural day of the seminar, Temjen Yabang (IFS) Divisional Conservator of Fores (HQ) Kohima was the resource person. He spoke on the on the topic “Prevention and protection of environment and ecology”. Yabang discouraged the burning of forest, deforestation of forest for timber and also digging of coal mine in the state of Nagaland. By all these hazardous activities, very soon human life will be in danger with no trees around, soil erosion, landslide, less gas for human and animal will immediately be resulted.
On the second day, Japheth Woch, SDO (Civil) Tseminyu spoke on the nature resources management like management of water, soil, health and nutrient, water shed, crop diversification, Agro forestry, need and integrated farming system.
Dr Kikrukuolie Kire, Fooder Development Officer Kohima was the resource person on the third day. He stressed on how to manage the assistance provided by the Government and how to be calculative in business sector for sustainance. The District Programme Office, Kohima, Chubainla Jamir on the fourth day stated that community welfare means well being, happiness, health and improvement of life of individuals and general and alleviation of suffering. She also educated the people to avail different scheme provided by the ministry through state Government targeted from 0-3 years to adolescent. Elias T Lotha, Regional Transport Officer (RTO) on the fifth day, brought up many amenities under capacity building for the future young generation.
