Rio chairs State Disaster Management meeting

Kohima, February 17 (MExN): The second State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) meeting was held today at the Chief Minister’s Conference Hall. Chairman of the NSDMA, Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio, stressed on the need for greater awareness in Nagaland as far as Disaster Management
is concerned and urged the NSDMA to have more awareness activities and programmes. Stating that Nagas are a complacent lot, Rio added that the general public has to be sensitized on the vulnerability of Nagaland which lies in the 5th seismic zone.
The Secretary RR&DM presented power point on the activities of the NSDMA while also highlighting the future programmes. Earlier the meeting was chaired by the Chairman (NSDMA), while the Home Commissioner delivered welcome address. The meeting was attended by the Minister for Heal and family welfare Kuzholuzo Neinu, Minister for R&B Kaito Aye, Minister for Power Doshehe, Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Relief & Rehabilitation S. Heno, Chief secretary Lalthara IAS, ACS Alemtemshi  IAS, Commissioner & Secretary to CM Toshi Aier, Home Commissioner Jane Alam, Commissioner & Secretary Menukhol John and a representative from the Commissioners’ office.
