Pre-natal determination of sex techniques seminar conducted

Dimapur, March 24 (MExN): Seminar on pre-natal determination of sex techniques (PNDT ACT 1994) was held on March 23 at PPC hall in Longleng, which was organised by District Health Society Longleng.
Deputy Commissioner Longleng K.Libanthung Lotha was the chief guest and SP Longleng  Raj Shekar IPS and Company Commandant of 31 AR Longleng  Major Satish K Sharma as guests of honour.
The chief guest in his speech said: “This act is very important and we should implement it at the ground level and how we as Christians should uphold our moral values as written in the Bible and to help stop female foeticide, gender discrimination, and abortions as well as give awareness on small family planning.”
The programme was chaired by Deputy CMO Longleng Dr Kongyan, CMO of Longleng Dr M.A.WATI gave the welcome address, presentation on awareness on PNDT Act 1994 and regulation and prevention of misuse Rules 1996 and prohibition of sex selection Rules 1996 was given by DIO of Longleng Dr Imtiwabang.
The resourced persons had a discussion on the topic with the participants of the programme and vote of thanks was given by DTO of Longleng Dr Sashinlo Tep.
Representatives from all health units under Longleng District including the Medical Superintendent and staff of District hospital, Medical Officers of PHCs along with Administration , Police , Public leaders , Advisors Longleng town council , Dobashis ,GBs and NGOs attended the seminar.
