Confusion for Imphal police over mishap death
Imphal, June 30 (NNN): The family of a road accident victim today alleged that the Officer-in-charge of Ukhrul district Police Station in connivance with the concerned Investigating Officer have turned a murder case into a motor accident case.
In a written complaint submitted to Manipur Director General of Police, one Thuingaleng Khamrang of Tora Aheng village in Ukhrul district alleged that his brother, one Worinkhan Khamrang, son of late Engenchao Khamrang of Tora Aheng village in Ukhrul district was murdered by one Paoringyao Horam and a Ninglupam Khamrang, both residents of Champhung village, Ukhrul district.
The deceased Worinkhan along with his wife went to Ukhrul to find another jeep on June 20 last after their jeep developed a snag on their way at Somdal but they decided to stay back at the wife’s parental home at Ukhrul, Thuingaleng told reporters at the Manipur Press Club here Saturday.
He said on the evening of June 20 at around 5 pm, the accused Paoringyao and Ninglupam came to the residence and called out Worinkhan on the pretext that one vehicle had already been arranged to tow his defective jeep.
As it was late, Warikhan’s wife, Phungreiwon resited her husband not to go out, but he reluctantly followed the accused Thuingaleng said. However, on the evening of June 21 at about 5 pm, the family was informed over telephone that Worinkhan had been killed in a jeep accident near Hundung Cement Factory in the district.
Worinkhan was found dead with all his teeth both upper and lower totally broken, Thuingaleng said, adding that both his lips were also badly injured and disfigured. Injuries marks were also found on his neck caused die to strangulation by the accused, he further alleged.
However, the Ukhrul police were seen running here and there contacting his family to compromise the case, Thuingaleng accused.
