Bomb explodes at Mizoram SBI main branch office
Aizawl |September 19 : The State Bank of India, Mizoram Main Branch Office was closed today after a gelatin bomb exploded inside the office at around 8:40 this morning. Two gelatin bombs were aimed at the Manager Accounts room but only one of them exploded. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as office staff had not yet arrived at the office. According to police sources, the impact of the bomb explosion destroyed one computer set and a hidden camera installed on the ceiling of the office.
Speaking to NNN, one employee of the SBI stated that those who planted the explosives may have very good information on the SBI office. “We only have a hidden camera installed in our bank and the camera is installed in the manager accounts office. Only a handful of the employees here know exactly where the camera is installed but this bomber manage to destroy the camera. From my point of view, this bomber has very good information,” he said.
Accounts Manager Lalmalsawmi, who was given news of the explosion while she was on her way to the office, stressed that she was shocked that a bomb had exploded inside her office. Meanwhile, one employee fumed that the security system needs review. “While CRPF personnel were on duty we would be followed closely if we remain in the office after closing time. However, since the Mizoram Armed Police (MAP) has taken over the security, security has been lapsed and the weakness in security has now been exposed,” he said. No groups or individuals have claimed responsibility for today’s explosion nor have the police come up with any clue until the filing of this report.
