Season ranking tournament on Snooker in Nagaland

To carry forward the discipline of snooker in Nagaland, Cue Association of Nagaland (CAN) is all set to introduce ranking system at its own level.

 

For this, the Club will be holding “Season ranking tournament” in Kohima from this year.

 

Addressing a press conference here, CAN president Yangertemjen said that Season Ranking Tournament will be organized thrice in a year to enhance quality of the game and facilitate healthy competition among the players.

 

The Ist season ranking tournament have been scheduled for September 26 at Club Area 51, Jail Colony Kohima.

 

It will be followed by second season tournament in January and third season in May.

 

As a start, the first season will focus only for those club members from Kohima.

 

Each club from Kohima will be invited to send top eight players for the Ist season.

 

The Club also extended its invitation to the players from outside Kohima but they will not fall under the ranking category.

 

Ranking will accorded to the players during the third season.

 

The winner will get 10 points while the runner-up will be awarded with 7 points. Four points each will be awarded to other finalists.

 

He said the Club will reach out to the rest of the district to grow together in the discipline of snooker.

 

The Club will also work out modalities to affiliate with Billiards and Snooker Federation of India, he said.

 

CAN was formed by five snooker clubs in Kohima on August 11 this year  to improve the quality of the game and also to open wider horizon  to the players.

 

Five club which came together to form CAN included; Club Area 51, Q’ Lounge Club, Club 147, Atou Snooker Club and Baulk Line Club.

 

Currently, CAN is led by Yangertemjen as president, general secretary- Seyiekhrielie Rame, treasurer- Medoletuo Keyho and advisor- Neidilhou Suohu.
