Tamil Nadu, September 17 (MExN): Buoyed by granting of Institute of Eminence (IoE) tag by the Union Government, Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) on Tuesday announced its plans for the next five years like setting up of a technology park and finding a place in the top 500 in the world university ranking in the next 3 years time.


VIT Chancellor, Dr. G. Viswanathan announced that the institute is planning to start many innovative UG and PG programmes, in collaboration with Indian industries and reputed universities abroad. They will all be focused on niche areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cyber Physical System, Autonomous Mobility, Wearable Technology, Smart Structures, Fin Tech, Sustainable Cyber Safety and Security, New Materials Technology, Developmental Economics, etc. Multi-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary approach will be followed in all its academics and research activities.


Setting up of Technology Park, Higher Education Facilitators Training Institute, On-Line Learning Centre with Unique Selling Propositions (USP), Global Skill Development Centre for preparing Indian work force for 2025 world market place, Multi-ethnic Community Centre with representations from various countries, etc are also on the cards.


The students will be moulded for taking up leadership in high tech digital world of 2025. The infrastructure and the ambience will be enhanced sufficiently and suitably to alter the growth pattern of VIT, to be among the top 200 rank, faster, Dr G Viswanathan added.
