Dimapur, January 5 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) today expressed unhappiness that the ruling Nagaland government is ignoring “road development of the eastern Nagaland.” The government should focus on developing the roads of the eastern regions of the state, the BJYM stated in a note today.
“The present ruling government should focus on road development of the eastern Nagaland as the governments are meant to uplift people. The prime agenda of any government is to work for the growth and progress of the people especially the backward,” the BJYM stated.
According to the BJYM “various” ruling governments of Nagaland have treated the eastern regions as a ‘step-child’ and their people have been ‘living with bad roads since one decade resulting in extreme price rise of household commodities.’ “There is almost no road in the region of east Nagaland. Many governments have come and gone but none has focused on road connectivity…” the BJYM stated.
The BJYM explained further that due to bad road conditions, the lifespan of vehicles “have been reduced and the people of his backward region” have to bear ‘extra expenses” of “repairing vehicles”. The roads in Tuensang, Longleng and Kiphire districts are not meant for transportation but for “breeding fish” the BJYM explained. The thin layer of black topping is only for show, it added.
The “present ruling government” and the elected members representing the eastern regions are urged to focus on developing roads so the people can “come forward and can join the rest of the region.”
