Dimapur Forest Division create awareness on wildlife conservation

Dimapur, October 6 (MExN): The Dimapur Forest Division joined the celebration of National Wildlife Week under the theme ‘partnerships for wildlife conservation’ on October 6.

To mark the event, a programme was held at Government High School, Thahekhu comprising of painting competition on the theme ‘wildlife conservation’, followed by a formal programme comprising of talks on awareness creation on wildlife conservation which was delivered by Sandeep Rajgotra IFS and Anato of Class IX C. 

A press release issued by Beizo Suokhrie IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Dimapur Division stated that certificates along with cash prizes were awarded to the first three winners in the painting competition. 

The programme was followed by visit to the school nursery yojana which is being funded by the Forest Department. Saplings were also provided to the school nursery for distribution to the students to be planted at their homes. 

The programme was attended by over 100 people including teachers and students of GHS Thahekhu and the officers and staff of Dimapur Forest Division. Vote of thanks was delivered by Vivika A Sema ACF, Range Officer Dimapur.

As part of the week-long celebration, the Dimapur Forest Division is conducting awareness programmes in 16 schools under Chümoukedima, Niuland and Dimapur districts in collaboration with a team of Mobius Young Climate Leaders for Himalayan Development.
