One arrested in vehicle theft case

Dimapur, January 20 (MExN): Dimapur Police made a breakthrough in a vehicle lifting case which had occurred on December 15, 2010 at Shokhuvi. Sub-Urban Police Station had received an FIR on December 17, 2010, regarding an attempted murder on the life of the driver of a ‘Mahindra Bolero’ (NL 07 2946) and the subsequent snatching of the vehicle, by three unidentified persons.
The driver, one Babul Uddin was left for dead after he was grievously assaulted and the assaulters, thereafter escaped with the vehicle. The driver, however, managed to get to a hospital and miraculously survived.
Police investigators, eventually were able to track down one suspect on January 17 last. The suspected was arrested from Naga Cemetery colony and was identified as one Simon Rading Kamgding (29 years) of Senapati, Manipur. He was identified by the driver as one of the three persons, who had assaulted him.
Kamgding also admitted to the crime and is said to have told police investigators that he alongwith his two accomplices had sold off the said vehicle in Manipur for Rs. 1, 10, 000. Efforts are on to recover the vehicle and arrest of the other two involved in the crime.

Drug peddler held
A Special Operations Team of Dimapur police arrested one drug peddler from the Rail Bazar area on Thursday, January 20. The arrested was identified as one Dhonraj Morah of Nawgaon, Assam. The SoT recovered 14, 000 capsules of Spasmo Proxivon, contained in 100 boxes and 160 strips of Relipen tablets, both banned drugs.

Ganja seized
Police personnel manning the Chumukedima Check-post confiscated 20 kilograms of ‘ganja’ from an NST bus on January 19 last. The bus was bound towards Dimapur from Pfutsero. Three persons were arrested in this connection. They were identified as one Atole Chakhesang and a Witiu Kapfo.

Seven held with arms and ammo
Troops of the 24th Assam Rifles’, on three separate incidents arrested seven persons with illegal possession arms. The arrests were made during conduct MVCP (Mobile Vehicle Check-post).
On January 14, two persons identified as one Yuraj Adhikari (36 years) and a Sangerkaba  Ao (40 years) were arrested from Khermahal, Dimapur, after they were caught possessing two ‘countrymade’ 9 mm pistols alongwith three magazines.  
Earlier on January 11, two persons traveling in a ‘Maruti Gypsy’ (NL 07 C 1075) were arrested from the Rangapahar Road junction, for possessing illegal arms.     
They were identified as a Vihoto Achumi (25 years) and one Atoshe Awomi (23 years). Two automatic rifles were recovered from their possession.  
On January 6, three persons, identified as one Rangtau Zeliang (48 years), a Phulak Zeliang (36 years) and one Daelung Zeliang (35 years) were arrested from the same location with assault rifle ammunition. They were traveling in a car (NL 03 1194). Thirty nine rounds of AK-47 ammunition were recovered from their possession.
