Ensure free & fair election, RPP appeals GBs & Church leaders

Dimapur, April 16 (MExN): The Rising People’s Party  (RPP) today urged the village Goan Buras, the custodian of Naga customary laws and tradition, to ensure free and fair election in the State so as to ensure that proposal such as UCC (Uniform Civil Code), promised to be implemented by the BJP, “is repulsed with “patriotic fervour.”

The Church leaders are also requested to see to that their clarion call for clean election is implemented in letter and in spirit, the party stated.   The RPP also expressed its ‘deep’ worry that the upcoming election would “be stolen by the might of the state machinery.” “The AICC (All India Congress Committee) team has already given a list of the constituencies where probable booth capturing may take place to the CEO (Chief Electoral Officer) Nagaland,’ it added, expressing anxiety over the issue.

However, it expressed hope that the “Naga people irrespective of political colours will rise to the occasion and Save Democracy in the country.”
