National Highway-29, Dimapur, Nagaland...

The Work Must Go on:  A worker uses a machine to give finishing touches to the concreted portion of the ongoing 4-laning works on National Highway-29 near 5th Mile Dimapur on May 23. The completion of the highly anticipated but long overdue four-lanning along the Purana Bazaar-Chümoukedima stretch was further delayed due to the nationwide lockdown associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. An official of the construction firm updated to The Morung Express in April that around 25% of the total 17.3km, starting from the New Field Checkpost to the Patkai Bridge, remains incomplete including the 5-6th Mile stretch, at intersections and 2 culverts near Patkai Bridge. With the gradual easing of lockdown measures, most economic activities, including the ongoing road construction at the stretch, has been resumed signifying a return to normalcy after a long lockdown period. Since then, some progresses are perceptible particularly on the 5-6th Mile stretch. (Morung Photo)
