Nagaland: Longleng DTF discusses movement of vehicles

Wokha, July 30 (MExN): A meeting of the Longleng District Task Force on COVID-19 was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner, Longleng M. Shayung Phom at his official Bungalow on July 29.

As per a DIPR report, the house discussed about the alteration of days for passenger of Longleng bound vehicles at Watiyongphang, Nagaland-Assam gate. In this regard it was decided that the DC & Chairman DTF Longleng to write to DC & Chairman DTF, Mokokchung to direct stakeholders to alter the days for passage of Longleng bound vehicles at Watiyongphang, Nagaland-Assam Gate to Tuesdays and Fridays instead of the current arrangement Tuesday and Thursday.

Entry of vehicles carrying commodities (construction commodities exempted) from Assam will be permitted entry to the district only on Fridays. Vehicles bringing essential commodities will however be exempted from this restriction. 

With regards to arrangement for permitting vehicles to bring commodities from Assam, the house entrusted the ADC & Administrators LTC to work out modalities in consultation with the chambers of commerce & industries, Longleng.

After thorough deliberation on the condition of road between Changtongya–Longleng the house unanimously decided to write to General Manager, NHIDCL to take up the repairing works of the aforementioned roads at the earliest. 

It was reiterated that drivers along with helpers bringing all kinds of commodities to the district will compulsorily remain in the vehicle on entry to the district and also during unloading of the commodities. After unloading the commodities they will be directly sent back or sent to other arrangement (if any). The Dobashis and Police will be detailed to ensure that these safety protocols are strictly adhered to.

It was also decided that a Committee to oversee assets in quarantine centers will be setup at an early date. The committee will consist of the representatives from the district administration, Police and Medical department.
