NDPP-BJP alliance will win 40-50 seats in Nagaland: Rio

NDPP’s star campaigner addresses rallies at Aonglenden, Impur ACs

The NDPP-BJP alliance will win 40-50 seats and the form next government in Nagaland and would work towards a ‘state of excellence,’ Nagaland Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio maintained on Wednesday. 

The star campaigner of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) stated this while addressing rallies at 26 Aonglenden and 23 Impur Assembly Constituencies (AC) on February 22. 

Taking about its alliance partner, Rio said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is a powerful party under the leadership of Narendra Modi and his agenda is for peace and development. 

The seat sharing of BJP-NDPP will work for the welfare of the whole state, Rio said, and further assured to address ENPO issue and look into its implementation.  

Campaigning for Sharingain Longkumer, the present NLA Speaker and the NDPP candidate for  26 Aonglenden AC at Soyim Aonglenden, Ungma village, he highlighted that former’s credential as the youngest NDPP member in the 2018 by-poll election and as a further leader for the whole Nagas considering his capabilities. 

Touching upon the Naga political issue, Rio said that it is almost seventy years old and the ceasefire and political dialogue is going on for 26 years in a row. 

He also pointed out how the state government consolidated to form an opposition-less government in order to facilitate the solution to the protracted Naga Political issue. 

If an amicable resolution to the Naga political issue had occurred sooner, the MLA seat could have been increased to 20 more, Lok Sabha with 2 seats, and the state's membership for Rajya Sabha would have increased, he opined. 

Longkumer, meanwhile, urged voters into look into Rio successive years and support him to power again to serve his people.

He also added that he is committed to work for the socio-economic upliftment of the people and the Naga Society as a whole and will work towards a state of excellence to youth and women empowerment through digital empowerment and contribute to progressive sustainable development. 

Brief campaign speeches were delivered by Metsubo Jamir, star campaigner; Imtiyanger, Ex-MLA; Vice President, CEB, NDPP, Nagaland, and BJP Mokokchung District respectively. 

Meanwhile, the NDPP 23 Impur AC in a press release informed that Rio held a campaign rally at Sungratsu village for its candidate TN Mannen. 

During the same, he opined that the BJP minority partner position in Nagaland is due to “India’s recognition of the uniqueness of Naga history besides Nagaland being a Christian majority state.”

At the rally, he asserted that the NDPP-BJP alliance will win 40-50 seats and the form next government in Nagaland.

Rio further said that special focus will be given to farmers, entrepreneurs, youth, connectivity etc and also recapped how other programmes like CMHIS, CM Micro Financing benefit the people of the state at large. 

More such programme will be included after the formation of the government so that the Nagaland could be elevated at par with other states of the country, he added.

Rio further called upon the voters of the 23 Impur A/C to consciously vote for Mannen so that the area can join the wagon of development, peace and prosperity.
