Kohima, January 20 (MExN): The Open Natural Rock Climbing Competition to Mt. Japfű was successfully conducted in the midst of heavy snow on January 19 under the banner of Nagaland Association for Adventure, Mountaineering and Education (NAAME).
Vikho-o Yhoshű, MLA and Adviser IT& C flagged off the competition at Kipfűzha while Neitsale Zhasa IFS, Commissioner& Secretary graced the prize distribution ceremony.
Telhe Kiso bagged champion title with a record of 86 minutes. 10 sec to reach Mt. Japfű peak from 39NH followed by Ist-Runners-up Kechose Tase with a record of 91mins. 20 sec., IInd Runners-up Khetole Chale with a record of 91 min. 30 sec. and the first girls participant was Vichosanu Richa with a record 133mins.30sec., while Viyale Tacű 67 years, the co-founder of World Tallest Rhododendron Tree was the oldest participant with a records of 121mins.30sec, the youngest participant is Tosoviku Tepa 13yrs with a records of 128 mins.05sec.
All together 84 competitors including 14 girls successfully participated.
Meanwhile, the Association acknowledged Vikho-o Yhoshű, Neitsale Zhasa, Dr. Akho Yhokha for sponsoring first, second an third prizes respectively and NYKS for sponsoring the programme as part of National Youth Week Celebration/Work Camp.
The Association announced to organize the event as a regular programme and also to cover the District Mountains through its District Level Co-ordinators and promote adventure sports under the theme ‘inculcate in youth importance of nature for healthy living’.
